Karachi, the largest city and main commercial hub of Pakistan, faces growing pressure on its electricity infrastructure due to its large population and rising power demand. Despite ongoing grid improvement efforts, unplanned outages still occur frequently, creating challenges for both residents and commercial users.
In the summer of 2023, a newly completed shopping mall in central Karachi was preparing for operation. For the owner, Mr. Amin, the biggest concern was not the opening itself, but the metering system behind it.
Because of frequent power interruptions, the mall could not rely only on the main grid. Backup power sources were also necessary to keep daily operations running. This meant the project required a metering system capable of dynamically measuring and managing multiple power sources in real time.
